\\In her eyes a beauty is reflected
Peering inside emotions are flowing
At a glance there is a smile
But look along, within you’ll see she’s more
She is one that reveals value
This one cares about another’s soul
Though her face is tight, her heart dances unbound
Her head and her heart at constant war
Her mind demanding to stay within the lines
But her heart wants to make a life that shines
Those around will only look at
They will believe she is nothing special
For they have not experienced her complex heart
But look along, you’ll see she’s more
Deep inside lays a beauty that is eternal
Long after she’s gone it will remain
For she is one who will make you feel
Emotions which leave an imprint on your soul
She is told she is nothing more
And not even she knows the true beauty in which she brings
But I have lived according to her laugh
And I know she is more than a pretty photograph
Her rosy face is not the end of her value
But look along, you’ll see she’s more
She has made me feel a purpose and drive unblemished by time
Her beauty has caused me to strive to look within every soul
For none would have guessed her beauty within
It takes more than one look to see the worth
Look in her eyes and you will see
Eternal beauty dying to be experienced unbound by time//
Beauty comes in all forms and is often found in the unexpected. Our world has become so quick to judge. We all know the phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” This metaphor I realize more and more as I grow older how true it really rings in life. Beauty is not always the perfect people who seem to have it all together. For me, I find it in the imperfections. I fully believe that discovering imperfections in people and things creates them into perfection. Each and every one of us have our flaws whether we let them show or not and it is so unfair to make assumptions and draw conclusions by looking at the surface. So much lies within the heart that is not revealed by the first glance.
We have been made perfect in our flaws by a Savior who loves us more than we can imagine. He lived a perfect life so that our imperfections could be covered by His glory so we may be accepted into God’s family. We are called to live as Christ. Obviously, we are incapable of living the spotless life our Savior did, but how we view others needs to start to transform in our thoughts. If you view someone as you know your God does even when it is hard, it will change your perspective and reform your ideas.
Seek to find beauty in the flaws of the people, things, and places around you. Don’t overlook the little things, but dive deeper into the thought processes that justify actions in people’s minds. You will discover and learn more about those standing right in front of you than you ever realized before. The eyes reveal more about a person’s soul than any other part of the body and they are the starting point for understanding what lies within the hearts of those around you.
{Isaiah 61:3}
To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
