Today on my visit to Starbucks, the first sign of a new season appeared. My previous order was far from my mind as my mouth opened and I spoke, “Salted Caramel Mocha, please.” Summer is coming to an end and with that comes my personal favorite of the four seasons. Fall. Fall is for football games, new beginnings, and lots of Salted Caramel flavorings. But my favorite thing about fall? The clothes.
Fashion thrives during the crisp aired months and it truly is the time to show off your own personal style. In every other season, there is a flaw for creating the perfect outfits. Winter: it is miserably cold and you are just desperate to put on as many layers as possible therefore hiding the outfit underneath. Spring: The weather is just beginning to warm up again and as are you with your outfit game. Summer: It is hot and the time of year to just throw on a t-shirt and shorts because no one truly cares. So because fashion holds a big piece of my heart, of course fall would be my favorite season.
The colors of fall are also a perfect match with the color scheme in my closet. Is it army green, jet black, dark red, deep blue, or rustic brown? Yes, please. I love it. These colors are perfect for mixing together and layering up a storm. Within the fall season, the matchy-matchy style is one to let go. It is the season of putting together the unexpected to make something more beautiful and artistic than what meets the eye. Fall style is all about having fun and experimenting with your own style.
Here is my list of MUST HAVES for this fall season:
- Corduroy is coming back! Pick out a fun skirt, a cute hat, or cozy jacket. But you must add at least one item to your wardrobe.
- Overalls are in and I am lovin’ it. I have been searching for a pair of overalls that I’d fall head-over-heels for and I found them at Free People. There are so many ways to wear them and they are so comfortable. This is my favorite must have.
- Statements shoes are currently needed. Everyone is having fun and switching up their look a bit. Hit up any shoe store and pick something you wouldn’t normally wear and have some fun experimenting!
- Stripes, Stripes, Stripes. I’ve always had a crush on stripes and they are still here to play! Yay!
- Oversized jackets, dresses, and shirts are making life easy. Need to look cute but don’t have much time? Get yourself some oversized pieces. P.S. if your oversized tee has slogans on it, that’s even better;)
- Red is a new found love for me. It is a big hit this season so break out that red lipstick and find something to match it!
- Bell jeans and bell sleeves are the perfect way to make a simple outfit fun! You could even wear some cropped bell jeans with a black shirt and be stylin’ this fall.
- Leather and Camo are a necessary addition this season! Be a little crazy and let the edgy side of you come out!
- Floral isn’t just a summer thing! I love flowers and fall loves itself some flowers too!
- Plaids are a classic fall look. You can never go wrong with adding a flannel to your layers.
Fall is about finding your own voice through your outfits. Find what works for you and what doesn’t. Experiment and have some fun! If you ask me, the crisp air can’t get here soon enough!
